Math Tuition Classes FAQs

This page contains answers to frequently asked questions and clarifications regarding our Math Tuition Classes.

1. Is your tuition curriculum same as my school?

H2 Math Syllabus 9758 consists of 2 parts, Pure Math and Statistics. All JCs will start Statistics in 2nd Quarter of J2. This is the same for our tuition classes.

The Pure Math portion consists of 5 Main topics: (1) Functions & Graphs, (2) Sequences and Series, (3) Complex Numbers, (4) Vectors and (5) Calculus.  Every school runs their unique curriculum track. For example, one school can be going with this order: 2,1,4,3,5 and another school can be going with this order: 3,1,2,5,4 and so on. There are a total of 120 possible orders.
There are no 2 schools with the same exact curriculum order.

After more than 15 years of teaching Math, Mr Lim runs his own curriculum that may or may not be the same as your school. This curriculum is the best and most efficient way to teach and excel in National Exam. You can read our reviews and see the results yourself.
Rest assured that our content covered is exactly the same requirement as SEAB Cambridge A’level and O’level Syllabus.

For JC 2, kindly refer to this link for our curriculum track: 2024 JC2 Math curriculum

For JC 1, kindly refer to this link for our curriculum track: 2024 JC1 Math curriculum

If you join our classes after a particular topic is already being taught, you can either (1) consult Mr Lim before/after class with your questions (depending on his availability), (2) sign up for ad-hoc 1-1 tuition class (Focus Group), (3) join our revision programme in June or in September.

2. Can Mr Lim help me to score an A?

Imagine you are a professional footballer and you are preparing for the upcoming World Cup Season. You hire extra coaches to assist you in your training. There is no doubt all the training will help to improve your game. However, none of the coaches can guarantee you scoring a goal during the World Cup Finals.

This is the same with tuition. Our centre provides a safe conducive environment for our students to learn. Having free snacks and drinks helps to reduce stress for them as well. Mr Lim spent hours crafting tutorials, notes, class tests, timed practices and etc. All our materials are benchmarked against A and O’level requirements. Rest assured you will definitely improve your Math under Mr Lim’s guidance.

3. Is it too late to join tuition? Will I be able to make it?

Colonel Sanders only started KFC after 60 years old. And KFC became an icon after he was 70 years.

It is never too late to start!

4. Are there online classes?

Yes! All our Math classes are hybrid; both on-site and online classes are conducted at the same time. There is a video camera at the back of the classroom streaming live to the students who are attending the classes online via Zoom. Rest assured you can ask questions even if you are attending the classes online.

If you choose to attend our classes online permanently, we will deliver the notes and tutorials to you via courier each term/month, depending on your preferred payment cycle.

Due to security reasons, there is no permanent weekly Zoom link provided. A new Zoom link will be sent to the student’s mobile directly 5 – 10 mins before class.

5. What if I cannot attend the class?

Fret not! If you cannot attend Saturday class, you can always attend Sunday class instead. If you cannot attend the class on-site, you can always choose to attend it online! All our classes are hybrid so you can choose to attend virtually via Zoom instead. And if you are sick, simply inform Mr Lim in advance to request for the lecture recording for that lesson.

6. How are the Math classes being taught?

A mixture of lecture-tutorial teaching style will be used. Notes will be provided as well. There will be teaching first and then students will be given sufficient time to do hands-on practices during class. “The only way to learn Mathematics is to do Mathematics.” – Paul Halmos

Our principal Mr Lim is a strong believer in responsive teaching. Teaching pace and style may vary from class to class. You can find out more by reading our students’ testimonials here.

7. Is there homework given and what is the average class size?

All our Math classes are meticulously planned and tutorials are revised yearly. Thus, our classes are tailored to perfection to reduce the stress on our students. Hence there is no need to give homework to our students.

The average class size ranges from 6 – 18 students per class. The class size does not affect how Mr Lim conducts his classes.

8. Is there intensive revision for graduating classes?

There will be a full syllabus revision programme (our Signature prog) for Sec 4 and JC 2 during Sep and Oct respectively.  Our principal Mr. Lim carefully and meticulously designs these two signature revision programmes and they are revised and fine-tuned each year.

Each revision lesson is 3 hrs. The revision schedule will be released 1 month prior.

9. Is there revision during school holidays?

There will be 1st round of revision program during the June holidays for Sec 4, JC 1 & 2. And 2nd round of revision program for JC students in September holidays. No materials/tutorials are repeated. For example, 2022 June revision program is not the same as 2022 Sep or 2023 Jun/Sep Revision program. All materials are set by our principal Mr. Lim.

Sec 4 will start full syllabus revision (our Signature prog) for O’levels in September.

JC 2 will start full syllabus revision (our Signature prog) for A’levels in October.

Each revision lesson is 3 hrs. The revision schedule will be released 1 month prior.

10. Are there mini class tests or timed practices?

There are self-assessments, timed-practices and mini class tests for all levels throughout the year. Every student’s progress is monitored closely by means of an individual progress report and this is why our Math students always produce stellar results every year. You can check out our students’ testimonials here.

Graduating classes (S4 & JC2) will sit for more frequent tests throughout the year in preparation for their National Exams.

All tests are set and marked by our principal Mr Lim.

11. I am from XYZ school. Do you have students from this particular school?

As our minister said: “All schools are good schools.” Therefore, we do not judge our students based on their current schools. We coach everyone equally.

We have students from all JCs and Pre-U in our classes.

12. I am very weak in Math. Can I still join the class?

If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.“- Albert Einstein. You can definitely expect complex mathematical concepts to be broken down very simplistically by Mr Lim. So even if you are very weak in Math, you can still join the class and benefit from it.

However, if you wish to engage Mr Lim for 1-1 Math tuition, you can sign up for our Math Focus Group classes.

13. Payment and Fees Matters

Our fees are adjusted progressively throughout the academic year. This is not a punishment for students who join us late but to encourage students to join us early. This will allow Mr Lim to have more time to coach you and prepare you for exams. Once enrolled, your fees will not be affected by the increment. Your fees will be kept the same until you graduated.

Our payment cycle is either 12 lessons (termly) or 24 lessons (bi-annually).

Our preferred payment method is PayNow.
